Maria G. Cressler is Executive Director of Ignatius House Jesuit Retreat Center and has served in this role since September 2009. She received a B.A. in Sociology from Georgia State University, and a Master of Theological Studies and Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Spring Hill College. Her heart for Ignatian Spirituality has broadened the ministries of Ignatius House under her tenure to include programs from Spring Hill College, Hispanic retreats, teen and young adult retreats and an expansion of the Ignatian Spirituality Project serving the homeless. Maria believes deeply in the care of interfaith dialogue and has promoted multiple events encouraging interfaith friendship.
Maria’s background in pastoral and parish ministry provides a rich backdrop to her career in retreat ministry. Service in prison ministry as well as serving others in Emmaus, Cursillo, RCIA, and JustFaith provides the strong foundation for her deep desire to help others encounter God.
Maria and her husband John of thirty-six years, minister together in married couple retreats as well as interfaith events. Maria and John have three children and seven grandchildren who hold their hearts.
