David Thurston is the owner and principal of Tilden Properties & Investments, LLC. Tilden currently owns and manages residential real estate in Atlanta and Decatur, Georgia and North Florida. David recently retired after 25 years in higher education administration, the last 20 years at Emory University. David was the Associate Vice President of Financial Operations, administering the activities of Procurement and Payment Services, University Payroll, Student Financial Services including student and general university receivables, Cash Operations and the Emory Card Program, Contract Administration and Strategic Sourcing for the University. David received his B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Kentucky in 1981 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1987.
David has served on the Board of Trustees of The Howard School in Atlanta since 2008. The Howard School educates students with language learning disabilities and learning differences. David served as Board Chair from 2012 to 2014, and currently serves on the Finance and the Trustee and Governance committees.
David and his wife Rosemarie are Co-Presidents of Riverview School Parents Association and David is a member of the Board. Riverview School Annual Fund. Riverview is an independent coeducational boarding/day school. It provides a caring community for adolescents and young adults with complex language, learning and cognitive challenges. Riverview is located in Cape Cod Massachusetts.
David has served on the Board of the Emory Alliance Credit Union since 2006 and was elected as Chair of the Board in May 2016. Emory Alliance Credit Union was chartered as a nonprofit in 1968 to serve the employees of Emory University and Emory University Hospital. Its field of membership has grown to include Emory University students and faculty, Emory Healthcare and Residents of DeKalb County, Georgia, and other Emory-related organizations. Currently, Emory Alliance Credit Union is a full-service financial institution with over 19,000 members and approximately $135 million in assets.
David and his wife of 28 years, Rosemarie, a partner with Alston & Bird LLP, reside in Morningside and they have three children. Rachel is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Michael is a junior at Columbia University in the City of New York, and Matthew is a junior in high school at the Riverview School on Cape Cod. David and Rosemarie are active parishioners at the Catholic Cathedral of Christ the King, where he has served on the Finance Council.
